We went to Hampton Court early on in the day for about 4 hours as a class. This is where Henry VIII lived for a good portion of his life so we got to walk through his kitchen and bedrooms and through a couple of other rooms-the place was huge! It was rad to think that I was walking through the halls that all of those important people walked through and that I was seeing their actual beds-just weird to think about.
Surprise surprise! My feet started to hurt after a while so I decided to lay on the grass and get my tan on! Can you believe it?! I actually got a small sunburn on my face! In London! That actually is a miracle folks! Once the other girls were done going through the gift shops (there were like 4 different themed ones and then one main one and Khyrstalle is obsessed with gift shops so she makes us go into every single one everywhere we go) they came back to where I was lounging and we got some ice cream! And do you know what flavor they had?! Strawberry and clotted cream. Heaven.
Oh no yeah..that is a real parrot on that man's shoulder. He is just casually waiting for his train to arrive
These are all pictures of Hampton Court and the grounds. It was so pretty and the weather was so nice!
Day 38
We had class that morning and then we went to a puppet show. Like a real puppet show with marionettes and everything. It was in (on?) a "barge", which for some reason in my mind meant "bridge"and so when we showed up to the river I was sorely disappointed. Not to mention the fact that we were a grand total of 20 minutes late to the 45 minute performance. Our teachers told us it would only take us 45 minutes to get there so we left an hour early to give ourselves plenty of time. However, we weren't counting on the bus just shutting off at a random stop and having to get on another one-nor the random extra route that they spontaneously added on! Surprise!
Yeah..well it turns out that "barge" was creepy!
See?! Way creepy. It was all dark, hot, and humid in that tiny cramped space and there were these terrifying marionettes hanging on the walls! Not for me
After we were treated to that little performance a group of us went to "chocolate lover's tea." Fancy right? It was even held at the London Hilton Hotel. The hostess really did not appreciate us! She was quite the sass-master but our waitress was so nice! She even made fun of me for not eating my fishy/mayonaissey sandwiches. We were friends from that point on. She even let me have hot chocolate instead of tea!
It was actually the best hot chocolate I have ever had. Starbucks has got nothin on the London Hilton!
We tried to all be reeeeally classy to fit in..yeah it didn't work at all. I nearly spilled my water all over everyone and then made those awkward clamoring noises to catch it all before it fell, dropped my knife, used my fingers to get the sugar from the sugar bowl, forgot to use the strainer for me tea so all of the particles got in my cup, and then I couldn't even finish my tea pot. It was bad. But I tried so hard! I even sat up straight for like a split second! Small victories
But look at how cute the treats were! Mostly everything was more about presentation then it was about taste but it was still really fun and best of all..they had scones and clotted cream and they were good scones too! I could have eaten them all!
This was my tea-mate!
We demolished all of our treats. Nothing was left untouched. They even took home the chocolate plates you can see on the top tear! Pretty sure they are still sitting in our cupboards!
After tea we had another show called the Alchemist. It was actually really raunchy and I am pretty sure I didn't even catch all of the innuendos or anything-not my fav
Day 39
That day was a total bust! I was supposed to go back to Portabello Road with Khrystalle and Ashley for one final hurrah at our old stomping grounds but I woke up feeling really sick to my stomach so I ditched out and laid in bed. By the time they came home I was feeling even worse and ended up not going to the show tonight which I was actually really looking forward to! It was at one of the theaters here which is supposedly the best theater in London and ended up being a really incredible show. I was so sad! So I literally laid in bed the entire day! Bust.
Day 40
Sunday was Abbey Tingey's farewell at the ward that is just down the street from me where we have class each week so for the second week in a row I got to go to a church thats only a 15 minute walk from our flat! It was so nice! And guess what!? Jimmer Fredette was in the sacrament meeting-I didn't realize it until later when Abbey posted on facebook about it but I sat 2 rows behind him! He was just there for a quick holiday! Craziness. Abbey did a really great job on her farewell though! She is going to the Rio de Janeiro, Brazil mission!
During church I started to feel really sick again. Just really nauseous, weak, and a headache. No fun. Once I made it back home I realized it was because I hadn't had any water the day before and I had hardly eaten..I think the only time in my life that I had just forgotten to eat! Weird. So I ate and I felt much better!
Day 41
Today was our last official class! It is nuts how time has flown by! I feel like I just got here! After class I came back to the flat, ran to the grocery store, came back to the flat, went to Gap, and then back to the flat all within about an hour! Impressive right? Don't worry I got myself a way cute new outfit at Gap for Italy-turns out it is going to be blazing hot there! Surprise!
Oh man, after I got back from Gap I was on facebook for a while and I got the worst headache! It would not go away! I was getting really close to a migraine and so I tried to rest my eyes: nothing. I tried to drink water: nothing. I took 7 ibuprofen: nothing. I took 2 excedrin: nothing. And then-the miracle of all miracles: I drank a coke from a bottle and it was gone! Poof! Just gone. So I got to fulfill my wish of drinking a coke from a glass bottle because life is just better that way and then I got to enjoy my delicious fresh-mex (or as fresh-mex as you can get in London) dinner.
Seriously I was stoked.
Then we went to go and get crepes for our final treat before "eating healthy." Do you know how many times we have told ourselves that we were going to start being healthy? Numerous. And it has never stuck..but it was an excuse for a crepe so how could we turn that down?
On ou way back from the creperie Ashley and I were talking about how we were incapable of performing a legitimate cartwheel. Khrystalle thought we were teasing and when we reassured her that it was real life she told us she would teach us so we went to the park across the street and practiced until the sun went down. It was way fun! Khrystalle told me that mine looked 100% better than when I started..buuuut she told Ashley the same exact thing and Ashley still looked like a bear doing something she shouldn't so I'm not trusting her! I loved today! Tomorrow we head to Stratford! More to come in a few days!
